Ashwagandha, also known as “Indian Winter cherry”, is an evergreen shrub that’s found in India, Africa, and parts of the Middle East. Ashwagandha contains natural chemicals that can help calm the brain, reduce swelling, lower blood pressure, and strengthen the immune system. Ashwagandha is often used for stress, strain, fatigue, pain, skin diseases, diabetes, gastrointestinal disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and epilepsy.
Ashwagandha can be used in tea, an herbal tincture, and as a decoction, which is a liquid made from boiling the herb
Women who are pregnant, want to become pregnant, or who are breast-feeding should consult with a doctor before consuming. Also children under 18 and people with a history of allergies to plants. Side effects are uncommon.
