Red Clover

Description

Red clover is a plant that has been used traditionally for years for its edible and medicinal qualities. The plant is native to Europe, Western Asia, northwest Africa and has been naturalized in North America and South America. Historically, red clover was used for asthma, whooping cough, cancer, and gout. Today, extracts from red clover are most often promoted for menopause symptoms, high cholesterol levels, or osteoporosis.

Women who are pregnant, want to become pregnant, or who are breast-feeding should consult with a doctor before consuming. Also children under 18 and people with a history of allergies to plants. Consuming too much red clover can cause an upset stomach. Consuming red clover on a regular basis could interfere with hormones. It can also cause complications if you are taking blood thinners.
